Who this is for

If you earn income that does not arrive on a T4, your return needs a business statement. We prepare the T2125 and work out which expenses you can claim.

  • Rideshare and delivery drivers — Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Skip and similar platforms, including mileage and vehicle costs
  • Independent contractors — trades, IT, healthcare and other contract work invoiced directly
  • Consultants and freelancers — professional services billed to multiple clients
  • Sole proprietors — small businesses that have not incorporated
  • Commission income — sales roles where part or all of your pay is commission based
  • Business expenses — vehicle, home office, supplies, phone, tools and subcontractor costs
  • GST/HST registrants — GST returns prepared alongside your personal return
  • Mixed income — a regular job plus self-employment, or rental income on top

Self-employed tax pricing

Self-employment income is reported on a T2125 business statement, which is charged on top of your personal return.

Business income, one T2125 schedule from $250
Business income, two or more T2125 schedules from $175 each
GST return from $200
Basic personal tax return (single T4) $50
Each additional T-slip or other slip $10
Prior-year T1 adjustment, self-employed (new client) from $450

Pricing varies based on complexity and required schedules. See the full price list for every service and schedule.

How it works

We work from whatever records you have. If your bookkeeping is behind, we can help you get it in order first.

  1. Tell us about your work

Let us know what kind of self-employment income you earn and whether you are registered for GST. We confirm what your return involves.

  2. Send your income and expenses

Send your platform summaries or invoices along with your expense records. We will tell you exactly what we need.

  3. We prepare your T2125

We build your business statement, apply the expenses you are entitled to claim, and prepare your personal return around it.

  4. Review, approve and file

You review the return, we answer your questions, then we e-file it with the CRA once you approve.

Self-employed tax questions

You can generally claim expenses you incurred to earn business income, such as vehicle costs, supplies, a portion of your phone and internet, business-use-of-home costs, advertising, professional fees and subcontractor payments. What applies depends on your work, and we go through your situation with you rather than applying a generic list.

Yes. Rideshare and delivery income is a common part of our work. We use your platform annual summary along with your mileage and vehicle records to prepare the business statement.

GST registration is generally required once your revenue passes the CRA small supplier threshold, and rideshare drivers have to register regardless of revenue. We will look at your numbers and tell you whether registration applies to you.

Keep your income summaries or invoices, receipts for every business expense, and a mileage log if you claim vehicle costs. Keeping business and personal banking separate makes the process considerably faster and cheaper.

That is very common and it is handled on the same return. Your T4 employment income and your self-employment income both appear on your T1, with the business income reported on a T2125 schedule.

If you or your spouse had self-employment income, the filing deadline is June 15. Any balance owing is still due by April 30, so it is worth preparing your return well before then to avoid interest.

Yes. We regularly prepare several years of self-employed returns for clients who have fallen behind, and we can also file adjustments to correct returns that were already submitted.

Yes. We offer bookkeeping on an hourly basis, which is often worthwhile if your records are incomplete or you would rather not maintain them yourself.
